CARDIFF County Council have assured Cardiff Devils: "Your new, permanent ice rink home will be built."
The Devils are currently playing in a temporary rink in Cardiff Bay and there is not yet a timescale for the replacement building.
Nigel Howells, executive member of the Sport, Leisure and Culture department for Cardiff County Council, met up with new Devils owner Matt Burge at the rink yesterday.
Shannon Hope, who will be Devils' director of hockey next season, and player-coach Gerad Adams were also present.
Cllr Howells outlined plans for the future and said: "We have strong links with Cardiff City, Cardiff Blues and Glamorgan Cricket Club.
"The logical next step is to strengthen links with Cardiff Devils, whose success over many years has spread the name of our city throughout the ice hockey world."
The relationship between the Devils and Cardiff Council has been icy cold for some time, but there are clear signs it is warming quickly.
"I am particularly impressed by the positive way new owner, Matt Burge, is going into this, his plans for the club and the way they are approaching the an exciting new chapter for the Devils," said Cllr Howells.
"We know from discussions with Devils supporters the limitations of the temporary rink in Cardiff Bay. We are determined to deliver a new, permanent home for the team.
"It has taken longer than we had hoped and I cannot yet put a date on when it will be completed, but we are working towards that. There is no doubt the Devils will have a new home with first class facilities for a first class team."
